Introduction of AusAlert

The Northern Territory Government is supporting the Australian Government's rollout of AusAlert, Australia's new national emergency warning system, designed to provide faster, more reliable and more targeted emergency warnings to help protect lives and property.

Tennant Creek has been selected as the Northern Territory location for a community-based trial of the technology, helping ensure the system works effectively before it becomes operational nationally in October 2026.

A test alert will be sent in Tennant Creek on 18 June 2026 at around 10am. People within 100km of Tennant Creek may receive an alert on their mobile devices. The alert will be clearly marked TEST and no action will be required.
